An 800 euro pay rise for Councillors has been described by a Shannon representative as "insulting".

At the moment councillors, employed by Clare County Council, take home around 16-and-a-half-thousand plus expenses a year.
But the Social Protection Minister Leo Varadkar is considering proposals that could see them earn more than 4-thousand Euro more over the next five years.
Independent Gerry Flynn is a full-time Councillor and he says a full review of pay should be carried out.
