A Shannon councillor believes the town being turned down for Urban Regeneration funding will hold the area back from developing at the same pace as other regions here.
Shannon lost out on its plans to develop a new gateway road into the town from the Ballycasey side after its application for a grant under the Government’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund was rejected.

However, the town of Ennis has been granted more than €4 million from the same fund to rejuvenate streetscapes in its centre.
Independent representative Gerry Flynn says he’s disappointed but unsurprised by the news.
