Shannon ‘Could Overtake’ Cork As Second Busiest Airport

The Deputy Mayor of Cork has warned that the city's Airport could be 'passed out' by Shannon.

Ken O'Flynn was speaking after Aer Lingus Regional confirmed that it's reducing frequency on Stobart Air-operated services to Newcastle and Glasgow.

Reports say this move is to allow the airline recommence flights between Shannon and Birmingham, a decision that has already been publicly confirmed.

Mr. O'Flynn says Shannon is now just 20,000 passengers behind Cork after gains at Clare's international airport last year, and he's predicting that Cork could be overtaken by the summer.
