A Shannon Councillor is calling on the local authority to clean up the county's footpaths in order to encourage people to exercise.

Independent Councillor Gerry Flynn says dog fouling remains a serious problem around the county and it may be making people reluctant to get out and walk.
He's pointing to an awareness campaign around the issue which has bee carried out by the local authority in Limerick.
Councillor Flynn says there is no reason why Clare County Council can't role out a similar programme.
