A Shannon carer is disappointed with the one-off ‘cost-of-living’ payment set to be paid next month.
Under budget 2023, all carers and people with disabilities are in line to receive a €500 payment.

However, a recent survey has shown that over two thousand family carers have experienced financial distress and nearly 9 in 10 didn’t feel the value of what they are doing, is being recognised.
Carer to both her parents, Marion Costello, says the bonus payment won’t make a difference given the high costs involved in taking care of loved ones.
