Businesses in Shannon are calling for Shannon Airport to be declared fully independent by the beginning of next month.
As part of their pre-budget submission, Shannon Chamber of Commerce has called for Clare’s international airport to be separated from the DAA and declared debt-free by December 1st, saying the move is vital for local business interests.

On a visit to Shannon last week, Finance Minister Michael Noonan confirmed an announcement on the Mid West Airport will be made in the coming weeks, as well as stating that the move will lead to the creation of over a thousand jobs in Co. Clare.
President of Shannon Chamber of Commerce Damien Gleeson feels such a target is realistic.
