A Shannon-based GP fears general practice here is reaching crisis point.
New figures from the NAGP show the percentage of doctors able to provide an urgent appointment within three hours has halved in the past year, while 25% are able to offer an appointment on the same day, compared to 35% a year ago.
The Association claims the figures reflect an increased GP workload, which is in part due to a rise in the number of people with medical cards.
Vice President of the NAGP, Shannon Dr. Yvonne Williams says there aren't enough doctors to meet population needs.
