Shannon-based Atlantic Aviation Group To Deliver Significant Expansion In Apprenticeships

A Shannon-based aviation group is to deliver an additional 75 training places this year off the back of a significant Government expansion of aircraft mechanic apprenticeship places.

The move by Atlantic Aviation Group, which will play a key role in the national effort to double annual apprenticeship intake from 79 to 160, is seen as a vital response to growing global demand for skilled aircraft maintenance engineers.

AAG is one of Europe’s leading independent maintenance, repair and overhaul and aviation solution providers, employing more than 680 people in Shannon and a further 115 at Brize Norton in the UK.

Chief People Officer at Atlantic Aviation Group, Anthony Brennan has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that with the aviation sector bouncing back considerably since the covid-19 pandemic, demand for apprenticeships is outstripping supply.
