“Challenging Year Ahead” For Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport’s parent company is expecting a challenging year ahead, with the worldwide grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft bringing an unwelcome drop in passenger numbers.

Shannon Group has released its financial report for 2018, which shows that last year proved the best year this decade at the Midwest airport, with around 1.8 million passengers passing through.

Its other companies – Shannon Heritage and Shannon Commercial Properties – also performed strongly, with a total operating profit of €12.7 million last year.

Overall, turnover at Shannon Group climbed by 8% in 2018 to €77.8 million.
