Shannon Airport has been dealt a blow with confirmation that Norwegian Air will not resume its transatlantic flights this year.

The budget airline announced in April that passengers travelling from Shannon and Cork would be re-routed via Dublin until the end of June, due to the grounding of Boeing Max 737 planes over safety concerns.

However, the Irish Examiner reports now that Norwegian has confirmed it will only operate from Dublin for the remainder of this year, while it says it is assessing its options for 2020.
