Shannon Airport secures first new service since flying solo

Officials at Shannon Airport say they’re confident of more positive developments to follow it’s first announcement since it was declared independent.

Flybe is to operate a year-round return service to Glasgow, beginning in May – the three-time weekly service is expected to bring over 10,000 additional passengers through Shannon this year.

The English-based carrier is one of the largest in Europe, but has not flown from Shannon for seven years.

Director of Shannon Airport Mary Considine is hoping today’s announcement could herald a more substantial return by the airline.
