Shannon Airport has completed a project that it says will slash its energy consumption for lighting by two thirds.
The airport operators, in partnership with the ESB, have replaced over 4 thousand indoor and outdoor bulbs with energy saving LEDs.

Shannon Airport says this means energy demand for lighting will fall from over 1 point 3 million kilowatt hours to just over 400 thousand.
It says the new bulbs in terminal buildings, car parks and the “airside” are aimed at reducing maintenance costs too.
