There have been countless joyful reunions at Shannon Airport this week, as departed emigrants return home for Christmas.

Traditionally a busy time at Shannon, this festive period has been no exception with a total of 51,000 passengers passing through its doors between last weekend and the first week in January.
This is their highest number since 2009, and is 45% higher than in 2012, when the Airport remained under the control of the DAA.
Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Murphy says they're pleased with these figures at this joyous time.
