Shannon Airport is gearing up for a major boost in footfall for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
The Clare base is expecting a 7% increase on last year’s traffic as it’s Summer Schedule officially takes off.
In total, the airport’s 2026 Summer schedule will offer 2 million seats, up 200,000 on last year.
For the Easter Bank Holiday weekend alone, Shannon is expecting to welcome 132,000 passengers, an annual increase of 7%.
New routes to Madrid, Rome, Frankfurt, Poznan and Warsaw are all included in the programme, with the routes to the Polish destinations and Italian capital taking to the skies for their inaugural flights this week.
In addition, Ryanair has increased frequencies on several established routes including Manchester, Alicante, Barcelona-Reus, Lanzarote, and Malta.
Transatlantic capacity, meanwhile, has reached its highest level at Shannon since 2018, with 350,000 seats available in total thanks to enhanced frequency on the Aer Lingus Boston route.
Aer Lingus has also added an extra weekly summer frequency on its Paris Charles de Gaulle route, adding a further 9,200 seats.
