Shannon Airport's Christmas Flights have taken off with 90,000 applications received by the mid west facility so far this year.

The figure is 45 times the number of seats available on board the annual flight which will give lucky ticket holders the opportunity to meet Santa in the sky on December 3rd and 4th.
It represents a 55% increase in applications on the same time last year.
People from right across the country are hoping to catch a glimpse of the man in red, while applications have also been received from as far afield as the UK.
Over 60% are from people living in counties Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Tipperary.
