Shannon Airport has secured one of the aviation industry’s most prestigious honours.
The Clare-based airport has won the Under 5 Million Passengers category at the Routes World Awards 2026, beating competition from Bratislava, Cardiff, Cork and Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada.

The award recognises excellence in route development, airline partnerships and aviation marketing.
Shannon recorded a 12% increase in passenger numbers in the first half of 2026, with its network expanding to 40 services — the highest number in 17 years.
