Minister Simon Harris has told the Irish Independent that the Office of Public Works has identified 300 areas nationwide which could be flooded, as part of the process which will lead to a National Flood Relief Plan.

At the moment, just under €45 million a year is spent on flood relief but the Minister wants that more than doubled to more than €100 million.

Works would likely take several years, but here the areas affected are Kilrush, Kilkee, Ennis, Quin, Sixmilebridge, Bunratty, Killaloe, O'Briens Bridge & Montpellier, Springield as well as Shannon Town and the Airport.
