The call from Gerry Adams comes as controversy rages on over the salaries of chiefs in the Irish Farmers Association.

The Association's President is "stepping back" while an investigation takes place and the general secretary who was paid a million euro between 2013 and 2014 has resigned.

Here, there's been a broad welcome amongst Clare farmers to Eddie Downey's decision.

Farmers at Ennis Mart have today described the salaries controversy as "disgraceful" and says there's a clear need for measures to be put in place to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
