There’s been a rise in the number of sexual offences, assaults and thefts in Clare.
The latest crime figures from the CSO show drug related offences, burglaries and drink driving arrests have fallen in the first three months of the year.
There’s been a 30% rise in the number of sexual offences recorded in Clare in the first three months of the year, according to the latest figures from the CSO.
Its one of a number of categories of crime in this county that has seen increases – attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harrassments and related offences have jumped by 13% and thefts are up by almost 2%.
The number drink driving cases dropped by 11% between January and March, while burglaries are down by 7%.
Drugs possession for sale or supply or for personal use has declined by 15% in Clare, while there were 4 fewer offences involving weapons or explosives.
The figurse have also revealed a decrease in the number of criminal damage incidents, arson and damage to property or the environment.
But the Central Statistics Office says these figures are “under reservation”, because of concerns over the quality of data provided to them by the Gardaí.
