Historian and voyager Tim Severin who replicated St Brendan’s mythical voyage is set to visit Craggaunowen today where the boat is on display.
According to legend, St Brendan ‘The Navigator’, sailed across the ocean in a bid to take the gospel to the ends of the earth and in 1976, Mr Severin decided to put the legend to the test by replicating St Brendan’s mythical voyage.
The boat used is now is on display in a specially built glass boathouse at Shannon Heritage’s Craggaunowen project.
Joining Tim Severin on his trip to Clare today will be world famous uillean piper Liam O’Flynn , Shaun Daveys who composed the musical masterpiece The Brendan Voyage along with a 35-strong school band from Ennis CBS
