A City of Berkeley official says he doesn't believe the weight of the students was a factor in the Berkeley balcony collapse, which killed six young Irish people.

An interim report's found that severe dry rot weakened the wooden supports of the balcony.
The authors of the report have now called for new rules requiring inspections of existing and new buildings.
They're also calling for strict requirements on waterproofing new balconies.
