Clare's rural roads have been found to be some of the most likely to be damaged in the country.
A report by the National Oversight and Audit Commission, which has reviewed local authorities in 2014, has found that nearly a quarter (22%) of Clare's tertiary roads have "severe" structural defects, and that another 15% have other defects too.
This marks the highest percentage of any county in Ireland.
The first national survey into the standard of roads has also found that only 24% of national roads are in top condition.
Meanwhile, the Oversight and Audit Commission have also found that 37% of drinking water here is unaccounted for – one of the lowest levels recorded in the country – and that Clare County Council "significantly" reduced its deficit last year.
