The Air Accident Investigation Unit and Gardaí are investigating a fatal plane crash in Offaly last night which claimed the lives of two men, one in his 30s and one in his 20s.
Air Traffic Controllers at Shannon raised the alarm when when the Cessna 150 aircraft disappeared from their screens at around 5 o’clock yesterday evening.
Pilot Niall Doherty from Nenagh in Tipperary and his passenger Damien Deegan from Crinkle in County Offaly were pronounced dead at the scene – when the Light Training Aircraft crashed in a field near Birr.
