Staff at East Clare pharmaceutical firm are awaiting a decision on their future as an announcement on a review of Beckman Coulter operations is due.

Senior figures from US corporation Danaher, which completed a takeover of the multinational this summer are currently in the Mid West as part of the assessment of its sites in O O’Callaghans Mills and another in Galway.

The company employs up to 200 people in East Clare and its understood a number of small redundancies may be on the cards while the review is examining whether to keep both Irish plants, or merge them on a greenfield site

Senior vice presidents from Danaher are visiting the plants in Galway and Clare this week and local councillor Joe Cooney hopes the result will be positive for the staff in  O’Callaghans Mills.
