Senator Mulcathy Feels People Are Loosing Faith In Fine Gael

A Clare Fine Gael Senator says he believes a lack of trust in the governemnt was a key factor in the rejection of plans to abolish the Seanad.

As Senators return to Leinster House today, Shannon representative Tony Mulcahy has criticised his party’s referendum campaign, including a Fine Gael promise that 20 million euro would be saved if the Upper House was to be closed down.   He had previously described this as a lie.

Seanator Mulcathy feels the government’s strategy in the campaign has resulted in people loosing faith in his party.
