Emergency services are attending the scene of a multi-vehicle accident on the M18 motorway near Newmarket on Fergus tonight.
The accident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on the northbound portion of the road between J9 Shannon and J10 Newmarket-on-Fergus.
That section of the road has now been closed to Ennis-bound traffic as a result.

Four units of the Ennis Fire Service, and three units from Shannon are attending the scene.
It’s understood that one vehicle has overturned and while it’s not known how many people have been injured, there are not thought to be any serious injuries at this stage.
UPDATE – 9:15 p.m. – Gardaí say the road is now open and traffic delays should be clearing.
