Fire fighters from across Clare have spent a second straight night battling gorse fires in East and West Clare, including one major blaze in the Broadford area.
Two units of the fire service from Scarriff and a third from Killaloe were called to a fire at Kilbane, near Broadford at 5 o'clock last evening.
The fire, near the Gap Road, covered a large area but it's understood that no property was threatened.
However, it was after midnight until the fire was brought fully under control, and for crews to return to base.
A second fire was reported in East Clare early this morning, when fire fighters from Scariff were called to Cregg in Whitegate.
Other smaller blazes were also reported in West Clare.
A fire in Moyasya was contained by fire fighters from Kilkee in under 2 hours, while the Kilrush unit fought another gorse fire in the Kilmihil area from 3:30 until after 5 o'clock this morning.
The fires came just hours after the Clare Fire Service warned of a heightened risk of gorse fires.
Landowners have been urged not to engage in ANY controlled burning whatsoever, in light of the prolonged dry spell.
