Searches For Two Missing People To Continue In Ennis This Lunchtime

Searches are due to resume this lunchtime along the River Fergus in Ennis following two separate incidents.

An operation was mounted follows reports of a person entering the water last evening.

Separately, the search continues for a man reported missing from his home over the weekend.

Garda personnel, aided by the Clare civil defence and divers from Ennis Sub Aqua Club Search and Recovery Unit are to resume searches along the River Fergus this lunchtime.

An operation got underway yesterday evening, when passers-by spotted a person in the water at Abbey Street car park.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service, including specially trained swift-water rescue technicians were mobilised, along with Clare Civil Defence, National Ambulance Service paramedics and GardaĆ­.

Members of the Doolin unit of the Irish Coast Guard were also tasked to the scene, but the operation was subsequently stood down for the night and is due to resume in the coming hour.

Meanwhile, the search is also continuing for a man in his sixties initially reported missing in the Ballybeg area on Sunday.

Its understood this will be concentrated on the same area along The river Fergus in Ennis today.
