A search for two tourists lost in Co Clare has been stood down after they were found safe and well.

The couple in their 20s, believed to be from Austria, had been hiking at Cahermaclancy off the coast road between Doolin and Lisdoonvarna, yesterday afternoon when darkness fell and they became disoriented.

Emergency services were alerted and a large search operation involving Gardaí and the Irish Coast Guard got underway.
