Search For Missing David Enters It’s Seventh Day

The search for a missing man off the coast in Kilkee has entered it's seventh day today.

33-year-old David McMahon, from Lisseycasey, was reported missing on Friday last, after family became concerned for his safety.

The alarm was raised on Friday evening after family failed to make contact with David McMahon.

The 33-year-old teacher from Lisseycasey had left the family home at around 1 o'clock and later that night, his car was located in a car park in Kilkee.

Searches have been ongiong in the area for the past week with Gardaí, local coast guard units and the Shannon-based Rescue Helicopter involved, as well as hundreds of family and friends. 

Land searches are being carried out by the Civil Defence using drones and other technologies, while Garda divers and other local diving clubs will continue to carry out searches in the sea over the coming days.

A prayer service is taking place at Diamond Rocks at 10am this morning, following which volunteers are being urged not to walk the cliff areas, to allow authorities to carry out their individual investigations in the area.

A volunteer register is currently being compiled, with a list of bays, beaches & other low lying safe areas for volunteers to search, as well as low tide times, expected be provided to the public.
