Search For Missing Clare Man Stood Down Following Discovery Of Body

The search for a missing Clare man has been stood down following the discovery of a body in the sea off Caherush Point last evening.

The discovered was made by Naval divers around 3.30 yesterday afternoon and the body of a man was later transferred to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.

No formal identification has yet been made but its believed to be that of missing 20-year-old Stephen Mungavan who was last seen in the early hours of Monday morning.

The discovery was made on day three of an extensive search and Martony Vaughan of Kilkee Coast Guard says hundreds of local people as well as the rescue services took part.
