New measures aimed at reducing the cost of going to school are facing criticism for not going far enough.
Children’s charity Barnardos says the plans, announced today by the Minister for Education, don’t alleviate the financial burden on parents.
Under the plans schools will be obliged to ban non-reusable workbooks, introduce generic uniforms and provide fully-costed shopping lists.
