The Sceirde Rocks wind farm project has officially been abandoned.
The project envisaged a ‘landmark’ 450 MW wind-farm to be constructed with 30 turbines over 1,000 ft high in the Atlantic Ocean off the county Clare and county Galway coast.

Sceirde Rocks was one of 6 offshore wind projects in the planning pipeline which Ireland is relying on to meet it’s climate targets.
The shelving of this project comes amid further site investigations suggesting the site poses more challenges and difficulties then originally expected.
