Motorists are being warned that the roads will become extremely busy this lunchtime – as the Christmas exodus gets underway.

Tailbacks on all of the country’s main routes are expected, as many people finish up work early and begin their journey’s home for the festive period.
The Road Safety Authority is running its ‘National Be Safe, Be Seen Day’ campaign – as today is the darkest and longest day of the year.
Its message is to remind people how important it is to be seen when using the road, whether you’re a motorist, cyclist or pedestrian.
