Management at Shannon are hopeful that Clare’s international airport will benefit from Ryanair’s multi-billion euro deal to purchase 175 new aircraft from Boeing.
The airline has announced a new route linking Shannon with Alicante in Spain- which will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays from June 5th.
The low cost carrier expects the route to increase passenger numbers through Clare’s International airport by 30 thousand this year.
It comes days after it confirmed the 12.1 billion euro agreement, Boeing’s largest ever order from a European airline.
Ryanair hopes the increase in it’s fleet will allow it to carry 100 million passengers a year by 2019, and here in Clare officials are optimistic that some of that business will come to Shannon.
