Rural communities in Clare are being urged to apply for funding to help them set up a Text Alert Scheme.
The Justice Minister has announced a €150,000 fund which will allow community groups to apply for rebates of €200 to €350, to help cover the costs of the schemes.
The scheme is run in conjunction with Muintir na Tíre and facilitates quick communication between the Gardaí and local communities.
