Former Transport Minister Shane Ross has said Shannon was doing ‘reasonably well’ during his time in the role.
The former Independent TD has been criticised by many who feel that he failed to properly support Shannon, and he only visited the Airport once in his four years in office, but today Shane Ross has insisted that he was regularly updated on any developments by local TDs during his term.
He also says he supported Shannon when was necessary, including by signing off on a 6 million euro fund for upgrade works at his last cabinet meeting.

He says there was no reason before the current crisis to believe that Shannon’s situation was “chronic”.
