In the US, Mitt Romney has just about scraped first place in Iowa – in a dramatic first vote to choose the Republican presidential nominee to take on Barack Obama for the White House in November.
The former Massachusetts governor beat former Senator Rick Santorum by just eight of the 122-thousand-255 votes cast.
