There has been a sharp rise in the number of home-owners in this county who are in mortgage arrears.
That’s despite the roll-out of a new government-backed scheme being offered through the Money Advice and Budgeting Services.
MABS says they’ve seen an annual increase of more than 80 percent in the number of Clare homeowners in difficulty and they’re urging people to avail of the ‘Abhaile’ scheme, which offers support in accessing legal and financial advice.
Elaine Clifford of Clare MABS has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona McGarry that they’ve had to recruit specialist help to deal with the demand for support.
Clare MABS can be contacted through the national Helpline on 0761 07 2000 Monday to Friday from 9am-8pm.
