Further Rise In Clare Homelessness Figures From July

There’s been a further rise in homelessness in Clare, ahead of an emergency summit on the issue today.

The latest figures from the Department of Housing show there were 42 homeless adults in Clare at the end of July, up by three on the figure for June and up by 23 on the same time last year.

However, there has been a significant drop in the number of homeless children in this region, with that figure dropping by over 30 since June.

At a meeting with Council CEOs today, the Housing Minister will set out phase one of his plan to tackle the homeless crisis.

However, local Councillors, including Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan, say they’ve been left out.
