The Rio ticket touting scandal is continuing to unfold with Brazilian authorities accessing phone records of an arrested Irish man.
Police issued four arrest warrants for colleagues of Kevin Mallon yesterday.
Kevin Mallon has been in prison in Brazil for more than a week.
He was arrested along with a translator with hundreds of Irish Olympic Council Tickets.
The allegation is that he was selling them on at more than face value – with as much as a 400 per cent mark up.
Yesterday warrants were issued for 4 of his colleagues at British hospitality firm THG Sports.
They include a second Irish man and the head of THG, Marcus Evans, who also owns Ipswich Town Football Club in the UK.
Journalist Fearghal O’Connor says THG shouldn't have been selling Irish tickets at all.
The company who was licenced to sell them – Pro 10 – says that Kevin Mallon was only meant to be holding the tickets for collection as they have no one in Rio.
There's a number of investigations underway – including one by the Olympic council.
Sports Minister Shane Ross has been getting legal advice after the OCI rejected his request for an independent member of the investigation team.
The touting scandal has cast a shadow over Ireland's Olympic Games, and is far from resolved.
