The Revenue Commissioners has denied suggestions that it’s withholding income tax refunds from people who haven’t paid the property tax.

It was claimed this morning that the Revenue is asking people to pay their full property tax before income tax overpayments can be funded.
However this lunchtime a Revenue spokeswoman said it wasn’t demanding payment in exchange for the refund of other liabilities.
It says the usual practice is simply that any outstanding tax liabilities will be deducted from any refund before it’s issued.
