The IMO says its balloting for industrial action over the HSE’s failure to implement an EU legal requirement for a 48-hour maximum working week.

It says most junior doctors work around 60 hours a week.

Full strike action could begin mid September and involve doctors withdrawing from all except emergency care in hospitals.
