Restrictions on access to the region’s main maternity hospital are being relaxed from today.
Nominated support partners of inpatients in the hospital can now attend University Maternity Hospital Limerick between 8am and 9pm.
Visiting restrictions were implemented at UMHL in December following a COVID outbreak that hospital management say is still being monitored by its outbreak control team.
Nominated support partners will have 8am to 9pm daily access to all three inpatient wards in the Ennis Road facility in line with national guidance.
A hospital statement says the facility continues to review and risk-assess all access measures in the context of the COVID-19 community transmission rate locally.
Temperature monitoring will remain in place at the hospital entrance, and anyone accessing UMHL is asked to wear a face mask.
Partners are asked to complete an online questionnaire before attending the facility and are asked to consider undertaking an antigen test before visiting.
The UL Hospitals Group says it’ll continue to prioritise the safety and welfare of women and infants in its care, along with hospital staff.
