Seventeen Councillors voted in favour of the Limerick Northern Distributor Road being included in the Clare County Development Plan at a meeting of the local authority yesterday, while only nine voted against.
The plans will now go forward to An Bord Pleanala for a final decision on whether the road will go ahead.
