There are unconfirmed reports from Brazil that the President of the Olympic Council of Ireland, Pat Hickey, has been arrested in Rio.
In a statement on the OCI's website it says it is aware of the media stories regarding Pat Hickey and 'we are seeking total clarity on the situation before we comment further'.
It says any updates will be made via the OCI website.
The OCI has denied any wrongdoing whatsoever in the ticket touting scandal that has seen the arrest of one Irishman who allegedly had hundreds of tickets earmarked for team Ireland.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs here says an Irish citizen here has been arrested in Rio and is ready to provide consular assistance if required.
