Report Shows Decline In Tourists In The West

Tourism chiefs are warning that a turnaround in fortunes at Shannon Airport is crucial if more visitors are to come to the MidWest.

The Confederation says demand for tourism in western counties has dropped by over a third between 1999 and 2010.

While half of all nights spent by visitors to Ireland last year were along the West coast, this has fallen from two-thirds of nights a decade ago.
