The fixed rate on household water charges could apply for longer than expected.

The so-called 'assessed charge' is being applied to homes without a meter, but at the moment, no-one who has a meter will pay any more than that, for 9 months.
It's understood an extension is being seriously considered, although it's not yet known how long it could be.
Meanwhile, the Environment Minister is meeting the Chief Executive of Irish Water this morning, amid speculation about John Tierney's position.
