Renewed fears are being expressed that the Ennis 2040 DAC won’t be able to pay off its €10 million loan.
The loan in question was approved by elected members of Clare County Council in June of 2021 by a margin of 23 to five.

At this week’s meeting of Ennis Municipal District, Clarecastle Fianna Fáil Councillor Tom O’Callaghan has requested a report on the total costs incurred by or on behalf of the company since its establishment.
He says the company, which is 100% owned by Clare County Council, doesn’t appear to be generating sufficient revenue at present.
