A Shannon Councillor is reiterating his call for commercial rates in Shannon to be equalised so that new business will be attracted to the county's biggest shopping centre.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Mike McKee is welcoming an announcement that the Skycourt Shopping Centre has been appointed a receiver.
Tom Kavanagh of Deloitte will oversee a new ownership structure at the shoppping centre in Shannon, which management say will have a positive impact on the day to day running of the facility and lead to improved trading.
Councillor McKee says the facility has suffered due to the closure of a number of businesses.
